Biography
Tiago Mendes Baiao grew up in the French-speaking part of Switzerland and completed his medical studies at the University of Lausanne in 2013. After six months of general surgery at the Cantonal Hospital of Neuchâtel, he began his training as a specialist in ophthalmology at the Eye Clinic of the University Hospital of Zurich under Prof. Dr. med. Klara Landau. In 2017 he continued this training at the Cantonal Hospital of Lucerne under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Michael Thiel. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery under Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Theo Seiler in Zurich, where he received his doctorate. He passed the FEBO specialist examination in 2019 and since July 2020 Dr. Mendes Baiao has been part of the team of the Berne Eye Clinic. Dr. Mendes completed his training as a specialist in ophthalmic surgery under the supervision of Prof. Garweg in March 2024.
